DMARC researchers and postgraduate students have access to a range of music studios, video suites and computer labs with state of the art industry standard and experimental software and hardware. Two purpose-built facilities house a suite of recording, mastering and composition rooms, two of which are surround enabled.
DMARC also hosts the Spatialisation and Auditory Display Environment (SpADE, funded by the HEA and ERDF), a 32-channel surround sound system for artistic and scientific investigations.
An extensive collection of peripherals include a range of Sony and Panasonic HD cameras, microphones by Neumann, Soundfield, DPA and Schoeps, a green screen facility, Steadicam camera stabilisation and Lowel lighting systems.
DMARC also uses industry-grade offline editing suites and a finishing suite for post, colour grading and blu-ray surround-sound authoring. Acoustic treatment at DMARC is by Integrated Acoustic Solutions.
